Cream – Crossroads (Farewell Concert 1968)

This track is widely seen as one of the best live performances ever, and I wouldn’t disagree with that. Taken from one of their final ‘Farewell Tour’ shows in 1968 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, the band showed no sign that they had splitting up on their minds. In fact after the gig they confessed to having second thoughts about disbanding because of how good they played.

Cream made this song their own and it’s since been seen as one of the defining songs of the 1960’s and the whole British blues movement. Eric Clapton continued to show that he was still the best in the world on his instrument, playing like a man possessed. Cream were without a doubt the first supergroup. Fantastic track, you really don’t get playing like this anymore where artists just let loose and play.
